François De Poilly (1623-1693) was a French ngraver, noted for approvimately 400 engravings. This deck, his minchiate, is an extremely rare example of a famous artist making his own playing cards which is a textament to their preciousness.
Due to the age of the original work, it has produced yellowish of the paper and several stains and flaws etc. Therefore in this restoration, we used the technique of old photo restoration to remove almost all the stains and smudges, repair the missing and imperfections of the original work. And readjust and fill in the colors to give the masterpiece a new look without removing the flavor of the work itself. The original number cards have all been lost, and I have accurately restored and reconstructed them according to the style of French single-headed playing cards that survuved from the same period, correcting the errors in other current versions.
This deck is a 97-card Minchiate tarot system, with a clear structure of major arcana, composed of exquisite paintings with delicate lines and high artistic standards.
