In the imagery of the Wayward Dark Tarot are the archetypes and symbolism of Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot deck, mirrored and modified into a chthonic afterlife evoking the beautiful and the macabre. Each of the seventy-eight Tarot cards has been painstakingly researched and lovingly drawn. The deck has a limited palette of whites and blues on top of black backgrounds, giving every unique card a consistent look with the rest of the deck.
Familiarity with the Thoth Tarot will give you additional appreciation (and likely, additional critiques) of the Wayward Dark Tarot, but is not needed to get started. With abbreviated meanings in the guide book serving as an accessible starting point and the full book giving more intricate details, the Wayward Dark Tarot is meant for all levels of readers.
